Memorable experiences. Why do users fail? Stefano Serafinelli April , Est. Reading: minutes Most frequent usability problems We analyze the most common usability problems in our studies. At TeaCup Lab we constantly carry out usability tests on all types of devices and interfaces for companies of different sizes or sectors. As user experience consultants, we have been involved in more than studies and research with thousands of participants. We have detected the most frequent usability problems during these types of studies. Thanks to these experiences, we have had the privilege of being able to see up close the problems that users have when faced with an interface.
We have been able to build a set of knowledge about what works and what doesn't work. The following list includes the most frequent usability problems that we have observed when testing with users . It is not intended to be exhaustive Brazil Mobile Number List nor is it a complete collection. Nor is it based on a methodical classification. Jakob Nielsen's huge longitudinal study is a much better source of information if the goal is to quantify the frequency and impact of usability problems. What our experience has taught us is that some difficulties are repeated over and over again in usability tests regardless of the business area, the device used or the user's skills. Lack of information Probably the most common cause of failure that we have observed is the lack of relevant information that supports the task that the participant is trying to execute.
Some designers sometimes make incorrect assumptions regarding the amount of information needed in an interface. They apply the rule of “less is more” too lightly. Users always need to have clear and relevant information. Whether they are facing complex functionalities, trying out a new product or service, or in a situation where they could suffer the negative consequences of a bad choice. Making a purchase, booking a flight or managing a bank account are three very common situations where a lack of information can cause users to abandon the task. It is also common for them to choose to make a call to the customer service center. Your website does not offer enough trust When testing e-commerce websites, participants tend to abandon a purchasing process if they do not trust the website. Also if you are worried about the security of your data.
